Cake & Cupcake Classes

Come and experience the ultimate in Cupcake Decorating in our brand new Cupcake Workshop.  Our workshop has been exclusively designed to combine modern and comfortable surroundings providing our students with an enjoyable experience when they visit Purple Cupcakes.

Set on 2 floors, we have a light airy kitchen with a fabulous island unit design.  This island unit has a purple sparkly glass worktop finish which makes it ideal for working with sugarpaste and fondant especially when decorating larger cakes.  Our students each get to use their own Kenwood Mixer, weighing scales and all other equipment.  We want you to gain the most you can from our classes and using your own set of equipment in the kitchen means you can fully concentrate at all times.

Upstairs we have have a large cupcake decorating area where you will make all the decorations and work with the sugarpaste and fondant.  Those classes that don't involve any baking will be hosted upstairs and we can comfortably teach 8 students in our class space.  Smaller groups may bake and decorate in the kitchen area.  We also have our very own aprons for you to wear!

Purple Cupcakes' cupcake classes have been carefully planned to ensure you have a fun, creative and enjoyable experience.  Our cupcake classes run from 10.30am to 4.00pm and take place in the small town Barnoldswick, Lancashire nestled between the Ribble Valley and the Yorkshire Dales.  We are central to all locations in the UK (students travel from Scotland, Wales and Ireland too!), and have easily accessible travel routes to ensure you can reach us where ever you are.  If you travel with your family there is lots to do in our local area whie you enjoy your class with us.  Have a look at http://www.visitbarnoldswick.co.uk/index.php for local information, attractions and places to see.

The classes we currently hold are:

1.     Cupcake Basics Class – ideal for beginners and is “Hands-On”.  This class covers all the fundamental elements you need to know:  Baking cupcakes from start to finish and essential sugar decorations.

2.     Wedding Cupcakes – for those wanting to make cupcakes for a wedding or special event, for themselves or a friend.  Suitable for beginners and intermediate bakers and decorators alike.  This Wedding Cupcake class also covers making small sugar roses and other wedding flowers to decorate your cupcakes.

3.      Giant Cupcake Class - Learn the secrets to success with this class.  You will be taught how to level, fill and mask the giant, create a chocolate candy shell, make decorations and pipe the top of the giant cupcake.  As well as covering a board and using Tappits successfully.

4.      Novelty/Fun Themed Cupcakes – a fun class suitable for beginners and those with a little experience.  Learn to theme your cupcakes for parties, birthdays, christenings, new babies and other fun occasions.  This cupcake class is often tailored to events around the year, eg Valentines Cupcakes, Mother's Day Cupcakes, Christmas Cupcakes.

Each student will receive one of our fabulous cupcake carrying bags to safely transport their wonderful creations home.


GUEST TUTOR CUPCAKE CLASSES

We are privileged to be able to work with the amazingly talented Sam Phillips from The Magical Cupcake Company.  Sam founded The Magical Cupcake Company in 2010 after discovering a way of releasing her creative side using fondant! She is well known for her unique, bespoke cupcake topper designs and inspired ideas, creating magical cupcake gifts for her clients. Her business has gone from strength to strength and she is delighted to be the first guest tutor at Purple Cupcakes!!  Sam lives with her family in Guildford, Surrey and is thrilled to join us at Purple Cupcakes to teach you her wonderful cupcake style!

Our classes are £135 (unless otherwise stated).  This includes course notes, all equipment and materials, cutters, nozzles for use in the class etc and refreshments.
